Sunday afternoons

Robynn Collins

I drop the impatient robe:
Spectator hands emerged from
behind backs
where fingers had been crossed
in coveting suspense
charcoal describes curves:
my body
in all its earthiness became art,
blushed every time like fruits pressed too tender;
not one of them looked me in the eye

ocean salt on my lips
a red apple in my hand.

“I am out to introduce a psychic shock into my painting, one that is always motivated by pictorial reasoning: that is to say, a fourth dimension."
