Rock, paper, scissored<br \/>\nour decision, who to choke the croaking,&nbsp;<br \/>\nadminister the mercy beating. Shored<\/p>\n<p>up the loser, helped choose her switch,<br \/>\nheavy, quick. No one disputed kindness<br \/>\nversus killing, or threatened to snitch.&nbsp;<br \/>\nEvident lifeless better than flightless.<\/p>\n<p>The park went still when she raised<br \/>\nher stick. It stared at death with one<br \/>\nslick eye; she met the plea of its gaze,<br \/>\ndutifully crushed its skull. Solemn,<\/p>\n<p>we scratched a small pit beneath<br \/>\nthe black alder bush, laid it tenderly,<br \/>\nlimp in the indent. Feather bequeathed<br \/>\nto the brave executioner, commended<\/p>\n<p>her steady skill. Someone scuffed<br \/>\ndirt over the little stiff. We left behind<br \/>\nthe burden of concern, grew up<br \/>\ninto faltering monsters, disinclined<\/p>\n<p>to decide. Preferring the suffering of others.<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nGhost Weight<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If we don&#8217;t hang together<br \/>\nand submerge our small<br \/>\nhates, if we don\u2019t weather<br \/>\nthe unbearable all<br \/>\nwith each other, They<br \/>\nwill have won. Don\u2019t want to acknowledge what lays<br \/>\nsiege to your physical. Will what\u2019s left of you ever<br \/>\nbe located? Even by dogs? The image of mother<br \/>\nwho couldn\u2019t want you, cellular memory of no, never,&nbsp;<br \/>\npledged to the bone. You will stay this age and other<br \/>\nsubjects less, can\u2019t control language when object alone.<br \/>\nLeave and lean toward losing. Can&#8217;t stand losing.<br \/>\nYou never meant to leave, want to lay this down,<br \/>\nwhat you would be losing if you left. Ferocity in belonging,<br \/>\nbeing missed.
